  • University of California, Berkeley, Bachelor of Arts, Political Science, 1990

Rebecca Thompson has extensive litigation and family law experience. Rebecca started her legal career in family law in 1995. After multiple years practicing family law, she practiced as a Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice and as an Assistant Regional Counsel at the United States Social Security Administration. Rebecca’s experience in public service enhanced both her litigation and negotiation skills. While working as an attorney in public service, she appeared in state and federal court, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 2009, Rebecca returned to her original passion for family law. Although she loved her work in public service, she missed her family law practice and the ability to represent individuals, rather than government agencies. Rebecca prides herself on finding the right balance between litigating in court and negotiating a settlement. Rebecca cherishes the relationships she builds with clients and approaches her cases with the compassion and patience crucial in family law matters. Rebecca is known for her interpersonal skills, connecting with clients with varying personalities, professional backgrounds, and net worth.

Rebecca has conducted multiple family law trials, ranging from custody/move-aways to spousal support. She has experience in all aspects of family law, including highly contested custody matters and complex financial issues. Rebecca’s practice has included the use of a range of experts, including forensic accountants, vocational experts, and custody evaluators.
